Desired Future Modifactions and Repairs

'85 SS

  1. An 8-point roll cage.
  2. Aluminum pulleys.
  3. New Autometer Ultra-Lite gauges. Initially, I will only replace the factory setup. Later, I plan on placing a fuel pressure gauge on the hood. In addition, I may install an O2 sensor in each exhaust pipe, and I will install a gauge for each on the hood as well.
  4. 4-point or 5-point seat belts. Bucket racing seats are still a debate.
  5. A new nose.
  6. New paint job. My '85 SS Monte Carlo is currently primer black. It will be painted two-tone metallic black / metallic grey.
  7. A longtime goal is to put in a blown 377. Most likely, I will pull the '85 off the road and do a frame-up restoration. Some considerations are: Weiand 6-71 blower, solid roller cam, fully-ported and CNC-machined aluminum heads, and a butterfly inlet.

'86 SS

  1. A new engine. It will a rebuilt 305 or 350. Some considerations are: Summit cast-iron heads (67cc chambers, 2.02 / 1.60 valves, 165cc intake runners, ~$650 per pair), about a .480-lift cam, flat-top pistons, an Edelbrock Performer intake, and shorty headers.
  2. New paint job. It will be repainted the same cranberry red, which is a variation of candy-apple red.
