Main Workstation Upgrade - After numerous problems with my main workstation, I did a hardware upgrade. It's been long overdue, though I wanted to wait until tax season. It consists of an AMD Athlon 64 3000+, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard, 1GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM, and an nVidia GeForce 6600 PCIe w/256MB DDR3 SDRAM. The setup page will be updated shortly, as I will test my old main workstation to see if the hardware is OK. If it is, I will swap it out with my current secondary workstation.

Intel Clock Rates Rearranged - Intel clock rates have been further broken down into each Pentium chip type. Previously, all Pentium, Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium 4, and Itanium processors were combined on one page.

Changed Network Adapters - The Netgear FA310TX 10/100 adapter that was in my secondary workstation kept losing the network. As a result, I replaced it, along with the NIC in my main workstation, with Intel 82557 10/100 adapters. The setup page has been updated to reflect these changes.

Two Laptops Added to Setup - I have decided to add my two laptops to my setup page. Pictures and benchmarks should be added soon.

Apple Switches to Intel Processors - As you may be aware, Apple announced its intention to switch to Intel processors by 2007. From what I have read, IBM was slow to produce its G5 processor, among other problems. There are also several inquiries as to why Apple did not pick AMD. My opinion is that it would be wise for Apple to use both processors in future systems. Perhaps Apple will also reconsider using the PowerPC processors sometime in the future. Apple systems running with a choice of any of these processors could make for a really nice lineup of offerings.

New Printer and Fuser - I replaced my old Laserjet IID about a month ago with a used Apple Laserwriter 8500. Though intended for Mac setups, it has PC support as well. It is currently accessed via an ethernet connection. The printer supports 11x17 paper, prints 20 ppm, and has 48MB RAM. The fuser was bad, so I recently ordered a replacement on E-Bay.

Replaced Video Card - The MSI GeForce4 Ti4600 that was in my main workstation took a dump. I replaced it with a LeadTek GeForce Ti4600.

Updated Wintune Results - I finally posted updated results for my main workstation with the LeadTek GeForce4 Ti4600. Unforunately, I did not get around to it when I had the MSI Ti4600.

Also, I have posted updated results for the secondary workstation, as the video card was changed from an ATI Radeon 7000 to the old 3Dfx V5 5500 AGP I had in my main workstation. The ATI Radeon 7000 benchmarked better because it was designed later and could handle the higher resolutions. However, I have always benchmarked at 1280x1024 graphics.

A Small Change - I changed out the one IBM Ultrastar DCAS 34330 4.3GB drive in my secondary workstation with another IBM Ultrastar DGHS-09Y 9.1GB drive.
